I really really really like the moon
I really, really like the moon. Like, it’s kinda my thing.
I think I have a special connection with it. But Maybe everyone does.
My ancestors were pastoralists nomads who recited poetry and wrote Quran with ink on a slab of wood. They didn’t even understand Arabic.
They used the moon to guide them, illuminate them, tell them the time or the time of the month, they used the moon to remind them of cycles. To shed, to release, to wait, to rest, and to be reborn. They used the moon as inspiration for poetry and it let them know when to fast and for how long.
Spirituality, creativity, and admiration intertwined, she’s the only part of space besides the stars (including the sun of course) that makes itself known.
I just really love the moon. I call her out every time I see her “omg look at the moon”, it’s my emotional bid.
I know to avoid you if you don’t look.
Life is in the small things. The fact that we’re a part of something way larger than ourselves makes itself known to us in the most inconspicuous ways; you may miss it if you don’t pay attention.
Basically what I’m saying is, I worship the moon.
I love the moon so fucking much, it makes me feel a lot of things. There’s no religion to my knowledge that does this so maybe I’ll start one: I call her the celestial body that isn’t appreciated enough. We know too little and I’m almost certain it dictates our lives. Have you ever been out in public (in a larger city especially) at night on a full moon? It affects our moods like 10000%.
Anyways lemme stop and say I’ve had quite a few cigarettes in my day staring out at her in her astigmatized glory - smeared across the night sky and I almost always forget these conversations. I just know it’s always when my life is about to change.
Everything feels significant around those times for me so that’s not saying much. Even a fortune cookie with a message that aligns even slightly is mind blowing when you’re trying to find meaning in things. Think: angel numbers. They probably don’t mean shit but we see them and we get excited. Omg a synchronicity!
Short story short, the moon does that for me and if we ever find out the earth has its own consciousness it will be after we discover the moon does first.
